Question:
How can I get better sleep while pregnant?
2008-11-11 13:59:12 UTC
I've read a lot of tips for actually falling asleep while pregnant (I'm 33 weeks along, btw), but staying asleep is where I have problems. I toss and turn constantly, and I get sharp pains in my groin area when I do causing me to wake up multiple times all night.

I've heard that wearing silk pajamas can help with turning over easier, but that doesn't help with the pains I get. I sleep with a body pillow and that helps with my back and legs, but it seems like no matter how many pillows I have or what I do, I can't stop tossing and turning and waking up.

It's to the point now where I'm so exhausted I can't think clearly and it's affecting my daily activities and my job. Is there anything else I can do or do I just have to stick it out until my little girl is born?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could try taking 2 Benedryl like 30 min b4 bed. It's perfectly safe during pregnancy and my doctor reccomended it for me when I was losing SO much sleep. I only take it every once in a while and only if I know I have at least 6 hours to sleep at night. It's meant for allergies of course, but it makes you sleep like a baby! I dunno how you are about taking meds while preggo, but it is completely safe. I've read it and asked 3 doctors. And it works like a freakin charm!

It's alright to sleep in your again for a couple of mins at a time, however no longer all night time at this factor to your being pregnant. I have a few again anguish too (29 weeks) and it is' higher for me to sleep on my part- but it surely needs to be very good supported....a pillow among the knees and one helping the stomach in entrance. Sleeping at the part of the anguish is most commonly higher considering the fact that it is helping to stabilize that part- however I have got to turn backward and forward a couple of instances at night time. It's terrible, i do know, well success!

I know exactly what you're going through. It sucks so bad, but it'll all be worth in in a few weeks. I know you said you used pillows, but that was my savior while preggers, I used sooo many pillows, I folded them up behind me, so when I went to roll over, they stopped me and I'd wake up momentarily and go right back to sleep.

It's just going to get worse unfortunately.

But congrats on the big uncomfortable baby!

Try not to drink so many liquids before you go to bed, try sleeping on the couch, I went threw the same thing and that is what my doctor told me to do, sometimes your bed becomes unconfertable when you are pregnant, and other places that seem unconfortable will be confortable for you, Good luck and I hope this helps!
