So Friday I go for a walk with hubby and start having Major contractions (what I thought was contractions) they were every 2 minutes, the whole thing lasted little less than an hour.. I was crying my eyes out, my whole stomach felt like one big cramp, it was every 2 minutes on the dot, I was nauseous and burping up vomit, shaking, and got a little diarrhea after baby was frantic and pushing down really hard on pelvic area and kicking my ribs.

So I got stuck with the newbie in the office at my docs office on Monday for the usual heartbeat check.. I tell her what happened and she tells me she thinks it must have just been bad gas since I had diarrhea.. ignoring that they were coming 2 minutes apart.. I had just gotten back from a walk 10 minutes prior ( walks usually cause the pain less braxton hicks for me) and everything else.

I ended up having to go to the hospital after that appointment (recommended by that doc) for high blood pressure (all pointless to the story except to explain why I was talking to nurse there lol) and I told the nurse what happened and she said I was in pre labor and if it happens again with more than 5 contractions in less than an hour I need to come straight to the hospital and not wait and hope it goes away.

So of course I believe the labor and delivery nurse that is was pre labor but what do you think of this new doc who brushed it off as gas? Just that she was inexperienced or what?? Would you go back to this doc? Do you have an opinion if this was pre labor? I am 35 weeks almost 36 btw

It sounds like maybe you had a bit of an anxiety attack also, which can cause nausea, diarrhea and the trembling or shaking (personal experience). I'm not saying it wasn't pre-labor, but that there could be other possibilities. If I may ask, if you really thought it was contractions and active labor, why didn't you just go to the ER? Next time it's better to be safe ;)

Also, did your doctor do a physical exam? Maybe she didn't find any dilation, which would happen if you had true contractions and that's why she brushed it off as gas.

The nurse is right--you should go straight to the hospital if it happens again--however, the nurse is not the doctor. Like I said, it's better to be safe than sorry, but sometimes nurses say one thing and the doctor says another and at the end of the day a doctor will be delivering your baby, not a nurse... maybe you can mention it to your regular doctor and ask to be seen by your doctor and not the 'newbie'. Maybe that would give you more peace of mind. Good luck.

Its good that this has obvisouly stoped especially if it was pre term labour. The symptoms you had are all signs of labour. you should try to see your normal doc and see what they say.

If it is prelabor, you will know soon enough. If nothing happens, go back to the doc. Your doc might be right though.
