I had never even heard of this before until she said it and I read a lot in my last pregnancy. It seems a bit extreme to me, I dont see what the difference between me cooking chicken or buying it from a chicken shop is. Is take away chicken really a concern? If so why?

The concern with having take out food is that you never know the conditions under which it was prepared, how long it cooked, how long it sat out after it was cooked, etc. Most of the time, its OK, but there are always risks when someone else is preparing food for you.

Some food bourne illnesses that do not severely effect and adult or an older child can be much more harmful to a baby growing in utero. You can probably get information from the public health department on the health and safety ratings of a specific resturaunt that you frequent if you are concerned.

Good luck, and congratulations on the baby.

As long as it is thoroughly cooked, I'm not sure what you have to be concerned about. Just don't eat chicken if it's pink since that means it is undercooked.

It is only a concern of making sure it is properly cooked.
