Do u use them at night instead of blankets? does the baby wear anything underneath? This is my first and they don't come with a manual so Im trying to work out what to do when she arrives. Thanks

My mum used to be the expert "swaddler" for my daughter when she wouldn't stop crying. If you get any old blanket and fold into triangle, lie baby across the top straight line, so the corners are pointing across shoulders. Fold one corner in tightly across the front and then the other so the baby looks like a faijita wrap! You then hold the baby on it's side (its back against your tummy, hold firmly) and rock up and down whilst saying shhhhhhhhhhh in the baby's ear. Sounds awful but it is mimicking the actions and sounds of blood rusing in your womb. It worked wonders with my baby, got her to sleep every time. I'm sure some babies don't like it but it's worth a try. (This technique was created by a professor of medicine who claimed he could put any baby to sleep - it was amazing, he could!) xx

The baby wears their regular clothing under them, if it is hot dress them lighter if using a heavy blanket. You can use it any time of the day. The baby likes the security that the blanket gives.

My baby hated being swaddled and hated blankets too. I just made sure I dressed her warm and I covered her up when she went to sleep.

i swaddle my 5mth baby still for all her naps and night sleep too, swaddled babies sleep alot better cos they feel secure, i just use a regular cotton sheet, then place a blanket over her body aswell tucked under her, she sleeps like a baby, lol

Yes keep them in clothes. But when you wrap them up do it tightly so they feel like they are being cuddled.
