I never had contractions with my first child and I got dialated to 4cm's and they broke my water with her at 38 weeks. Now I'm considerring having them do it with this one to. I'm extremely uncomfortable having BH contractions for the last three weeks now and I lost my mucous plug(bloody show) two days ago. they got to be five minutes apart the other day and hurt so bad I couldn't move but when we got to the hospital they stopped and once again i was sent home now as of today I have had no more contractions. I'm so confused as to what my body is doing with this pregnancy. I just want this over. Plus my baby is wieghing in at 7.7lbs and I'm afraid I wont beable to deliver him if I carry much longer as I have a very small frame.

You don't request them to break your water, it will either happen on its own, or if necessary, for medical reasons, the ob/gyn will do it. You're only 37 weeks. Keep in mind that the weight of the baby is only an estimate. I was told, at around 36 weeks, that my baby was over 8 pounds. He was born at 41wks5days and weighed in at 7lbs7oz.

Hang in there, it won't be too much longer. Your best is to go naturally, not induced. Inductions are meant for emergency situations or if the baby is overdue.

well, the ultrasound based weight is not notoriously accurate, it can be off by more than a pound either way, but i guess the answer is that you have to judge how much discomfort you are in. obviously you know that it is best to carry the baby to 40 weeks, because the dates could be wrong by a couple of weeks with ultrasound dating. however, i feel your pain (i'm 41 weeks today) and i know that you just want to be done with. You are well on your way though... you are essentially through with the pre-labor stage. maybe something you could do is set a date and tell yourself, i want to make it to this day (if you think 38 weeks is all that you can manage then choose that.) if you wake up the next morning with nothing, then atleast you have done what you set out to do, and you can go ahead and ask for an induction. this is totally a personal decision obviously. atleast take heart in the fact that you are so nicely progressed. i'm 0% effaced and 0 cm dilated at -2 and i'm 41 weeks! so it could be worse, lol. good luck, i think that your body is pretty much ready to go into labor and any decision you make will be jsut fine for the baby! since you are pretty well progressed, making walking and sex will help?

i forgot to mention too, my sister-in-law is a TINY person, 5'6" at less than 100 pounds, and she had a 9lb 5oz baby girl totally naturally... so sometimes your "small frame" will deceive you. you're body is so maleable during labor...

If the pain is that unbearable, then see if they can't do something for you at the end of the 38 weeks, if you don't go into labor before that. Many "small framed" women have carried a lot bigger babies. you will be fine.

call your doctor tell him or her what you wish to do. and all your worries about the baby getting too much bigger, the doctor knows your medical history so they will know what is best, good luck
