Seeing Dr. again in a few days...forgot to ask. I was put on E-myacin for a lymph node infection in my neck and it gave me the worst yeast infection of my life. Now, the lymph problem is occuring again- tests are being done to see if it's really a sinus infection draining into the lymph node- but I'm afraid to take the antibiotic if that Yeast from Hell comes back- does anyone know if the Monistats or other products are safe to use during pregnancy? I am 22 weeks and all else is well....

Thanks!

My doctor recommended monistat. He said it was very safe. Give a quick call to your doctor's office to be sure. I was 15 weeks at the time. It worked and hasn't come back! Thank GOD!

I have had two yeast infections in my pregnancy. I havent heard much about monistat. i was put on amoxicilan( I dont remember the first time). for the second one and it cleared up after a week. If you go to the doctor ask if that would be safe for you to use because of the lymph node infection. It's best to just ask your doctor and make sure you take it exactly the way it says! Dont forget any. My doctor told me that if you dont finish them all then the bacteria can stay and if it is bad enough then no medicine can cure it and it can really be harmful to the baby. Not to scare you. Just make sure you talk to your doctor about which one is best. The amoxicilan really worked for me and it didnt make me sick or anything and my doctor said it was totally safe during pregnancy. Good luck!

You really should take the antibiotic, you don't need an infection that could spread, while you're pregnant. When you see your doctor, just ask for a script for yeast infection med, and most likely he/she will give it to you without a problem. That way you can start treatment immediately, before it gets too bad. He may even suggest a different antibiotic that will reduce the chances of yeast growing.

I took antibiotics when I was about 28 weeks, and got a yeast infection a week later. They prescribed me the generic Monistat 7 cream (the one you insert with the applicator) and it worked great. I haven't had an infection since.

Are there any alternative drugs that they could prescribe you? I would tell them, or if they've already given you the drug call them, and tell them that that particular drug gives you very bad yeast infections. They should not be prescribing anything to you that makes you uncomfortable, or that could lead to infection (hello!).

If there's absolutely nothing else they can give you, then you may be able to use the external monistat cream (ask Dr first though). As well, just try to keep clean down there, change your undies and pantiliners often, and use wet wipes or splash yourself with water throughout the day.

Hope you feel better!

Ask you dr. if it is safe to treat your yeast infection while pregnant - that's really the only true way to know. Also, tell your dr. about your resulting yeast infection from the previous antibiotic and see if s/he can prescribe a different antibiotic if you need to be on one again. Good luck!!

Yes, monistat is safe to take during pregnancy. Try to stay away from anything that is taken by mouth because it can pass through the placenta.
