I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I still haven't felt any movement yet. On my last ultrasound on the 27th the doctor said the baby was very active, yet I still haven't felt anything. I dont see a doctor for another week and I'm getting worried. Is this normal? or could something be wrong?

I'm also 19 weeks some days I feel movement and some days I don't. The important thing is that when you went to the doctor the baby was active and had a good strong heart beat.Keep in mind the baby's limbs are not as strong as they are going to be when you are 7,8, or even 9 months when the movement will be more noticeable, right now you probably can't distinguish between gas bubbles and flutters of baby movement which is normal in these weeks of pregnancy. Also when the baby is facing towards your back during these weeks you will not feel any of those movements. What I normally do is drink some juice and lay on my left side and then I start feeling movement.

As always, if you have any concerns, speak with your doctor first. There is nothing that they haven't heard before, so don't be worried. Now, you are still very early in your pregnancy, and any movement may be so small you won't notice it. It might start with a slight fluttering, that could be felt if you press slightly down on your belly. I loved the website www.americanbaby.com when I was pregnant. It would tell you week by week, what was going on in there. Give that a try, take a deep breath, and relax. You will most likely feel something soon.

is this your 1st baby? if so some women don't recognize, the signs of movement, it could just feel like gas...or butterflies. if the doctor has seen from your ultrasound that everything is going the way it should be and the baby is healthy and active than I wouldn't worry, try laying down on your back after you have eaten something put your hand on your stomach and see if you feel any sensations that you are not used to, I'm sorry to ask this but do you have any excess weight around your belly from before you were pregnant? if so that can contribute to not feeling the baby move right away as well...I hope this helps, I would also recommend that you talk with your OBGYN if you have any concerns....take care good luck I hope all goes well....

I wouldn't worry too much, just yet. Most women feel the first kicks around 20 weeks. It could also be you've felt them and you don't recognize it, especially if this is your first.

Try as the others have suggested, drinking some water and laying down on your side. This will work better if you choose a time of day that you are normally not very active, such as right before bedtime. Babies tend to be more active when you are less active.

You are fine. Next visit tell them and they will show you movement on screen. The baby is growing so movement at the moment is easy for him/her. Later into the pregnancy the room for movement is less and you will then feel it more. that first real movement feel is amazing and you will be really excited - my sons are now 18 and 21 years old and I can still remember the look on my wifes face all these years later. It is amazing.

If you do get really worried make an appointment to visit the doc and they will reassure you and check things out. But remember to ask them anyway at the next scheduled visit is baby has still not given you a kick.

Well done you take care of yourself and new baby and hope this helps you a little.

Oh dont worry at all you probably are having movement and think its gas...You wont feel really kicks for at least another month or more. Alot depends on your size also..larger gals feel kicks later usually and tiny little things feel them sooner. Don't worry you just had an ultrasound. But then again you are going to worry...you are a mommy now and will worry alot. When in doubt always call doc but I assure you this is not abnormal. BTW 19 week ultrasound...did you find out what you are having?

this is perfectly normal don't worry.

it varies with everyone when you feel the first movements, the chances are you have felt something but because its not what you expect your ignoring it or think its wind.

remember the baby is still very small so its more likely to be a flutter not a proper kick.

some woman feel it at 15 weeks others not until 23 weeks it all depends on how in touch with your body you are.

but give it another few weeks and i guarantee you'd defiantly have felt it and it will start to feel like a proper kick and then at around 25 weeks you should see you belly move aswell

but everything is fine.

congrats

I didn't feel any thing until after 20 weeks with this pregnancy. The ultrasound tech told me that my placenta attached in the front and that might be why im not feel a lot of movement yet. The baby is still very tiny. You can always call your doctor and ask.

It is normal. Many women don't feel movement until after 20 weeks.

From babycenter.com:

"When should I start to feel my baby move?

You probably won't feel your baby kick until sometime between 16 and 22 weeks, even though he started moving at 7 or 8 weeks and you may have already witnessed his acrobatics if you've had an ultrasound.

Veteran moms tend to notice those first subtle kicks — also known as "quickening" — earlier than first-time moms. (A woman who's been pregnant before can more easily distinguish her baby's kick from other belly rumblings, such as gas.)

Your build may also have something to do with when you'll be able to tell a left jab from a hunger pang. Thinner women tend to feel movement earlier and more often than women who carry more weight."

A good way to feel movement is to take some quiet time 15 to 20 minutes after a meal, when babies are usually more active, or 15 to 20 minutes after waking in the morning. Lie down on your back, put your feet up, close your eyes, and put your hands on your belly. Often, our babies are moving, but we are so busy that we don't feel the movement. Pretty soon, the kicks will be so strong, someone looking at your belly will be able to tell your baby is moving!

It might take a few more weeks before you can. I was 18 weeks. Of course your body size and build can have a lot to do with it too. I started SHOWING at a month. I don't mean to be gross, but you know how when your body is digesting food and you feel those 'gassy' bubbles moving around and gurgling? Well, that is how is feels when a baby starts being felt. I sometimes get the real Gassy bubbling and think-oh that's what a baby feels like. Trust me, the little sweetie will start entertaining you by crazy flips and kicks. Get into your 8th-9th month and you think an alien will come out because you can feel body parts like a head, butt, knees, and elbows. It's fun! Congrats on your preggo state and enjoy it!

It's totally normal. First movement isn't usually felt until between 18-22 weeks. If you go much longer than 22 weeks you should follow up with your doctor.

Try this--drink some ice water and lay on your left side for about 20 minutes. You may feel little tiny "bubbles," which is your baby moving. Good luck!

Not at all, In fact that is when I started feeling movement with my son. It could also be that you are feeling movement and you may just be mistaking it for gas like I did. As long as the doctor says the baby is healthy then everything is fine. If you have any reason to doubt your doctor there's no harm in a second opinion.

Well, if the doctor said that the baby is very active that means that the movement is there. in the beginning, the movements are like bubbles in your lower abdomen, or you will feel like theres some bubbles or flutter in lower abdomen, try to relax and feel it, you cant miss it. I am 21 weeks pregnant with my 1st and i feel the movement, so dont worry, you will feel it soon. Congratulations.

If you were a little over weight when you got pregnant it will take longer for you to feel the baby move. My son was very active I had ultrsounds weekly due to being high risk for premature labor and OB appointments weekly where he listened every time for a heart beat and you could see him on ultrasound moving and hear him on doplar moving but I couldnt feel nothing until he was 28 weeks. With my daughter (my first child) I felt her move at 23..Every pregnancy is different. Once my son got to 32 weeks I could feel him just fine and infact could watch my belly move when he kicked

Don't worry, especially if your doctor has seen fetal movement. I am also willing to bet that you have felt your baby move--you may have just not realized that it's him/her! It's a strange sensation the first time you feel it. It may feel like butterflies or even gas. Also, babies tend to be more active when moms are asleep, so chances are, the baby is doing its acrobats then. Hang in there!

Oh, and drink orange juice--it jolts the baby into moving. Worked for me! :-)

It's normal to not feel movement yet, I was about 22 weeks before I felt anything and even then it was minimal...it wasn't until about 29 weeks that I really felt anything.

It's fine, as long as the baby is doing alright and you're growing properly. Give it a few more weeks and you'll feel plenty of movement. Then even further you'll be getting woken up with it all. :)

if you drink a big glass of water and lay on your side you may be able to feel the baby move, sometimes first moms do not know what to feel for just realx if the doctor says everything is fine then i would go with that, if you have concerns talk to your doctor

At that early of a stage you won't feel much more then a gas bubble type feel.

The kicking feeling is later in the pregnancy. Try this eat a snack and sit in a quiet room.......... eyes closed relax you might just feel something..........like flutter.

i think that it should be okay - i wouldnt start worrying about it until you are farther along (in your 28th week)

maybe you do feel it but you just dont realize it??

i dont really notice the small movements, because im used to them...but when i lie down anc concentrate - i can feel almost everything

good luck! and congrats on your baby - its amazing to feel their first movements - i think that its really helped me bond with my unborn baby!

no you should be okay.......if you were an active person who exercised a lot your stomach walls may be harder and you won't feel it as easily as a person who might be fatter or softer in that area
