The answer is this....The only time a woman can get pregnant is ANYTIME. There is no "safe time" to have unprotected sex and positively avoid a pregnancy. Always use birth control.

There is one day a month a woman can actually get pregnant, which is why sperm stays alive inside your body for 72 hours. You need to know your cycle completely. Count 13-16 days from the first day you start your period. One of those will be your ovulation day, the day you can get pregnant. However this method is only 70% accurate in preventing birth control becuase of human error. Your best bet is to abstain or use birth control with a higher prevention rate.

A woman gets pregnant when she is ovulating. The ovulation time for a woman is 14 days after the start of her last period. For example, if a woman starts her period on the 1st of the month, her ovulation ( fertile) period will be on the 15th of the month. However, not every woman has regular periods, so it can be hard to determine when she is ovulating. For a woman who has irregular periods, they make Ovulation Tests to determine when she will be ovulating. They usually cost about $10 and can be found anywhere that they sell pregnancy tests/condoms/etc.

Sperm can live for about 3 days too, so if a woman has sexual intercourse a few days before her ovulation time, she is still able to get pregnant.

You can get pregnant anytime really. But it's more likely when you are ovulating - usually 12-15 days into your cycle.

When having sex....

Birth control doesn't always work...neither do condoms. There is always the chance that the condom could break!
