I read all the time about unborn baby hiccups....Is it wierd I have never felt my little girl have hiccups? I am 30 weeks today. I read something like that if they hiccup they have good lungs or something. Anyone have any insight?

I'm 31 weeks with my little girl and I have been feeling her hiccup for about 2 weeks now and it feels like little kicks but they are one right after the other, very rhythmic like. My first didn't hiccup alot but she turned out alright.

hope the rest of ya pregnacy goes well and all the best xxx

what it says in my book if any help to ya .....

Many pregnant women wonder what their baby is doing when they feel those rhythmic movements later in pregnancy. Most are surprised to learn their baby has the hiccups! That is right, many babies have the hiccups while they are in the womb and some babies have the hiccups multiple times per day. But, what causes this and why do babies hiccup in the womb anyway?

There has not been an overwhelming amount of research on fetal hiccupping in the womb, although there is some speculation as to why it happens. First of all, only more mature fetuses hiccup in the womb because their central nervous system is adequately developed in order to allow this to happen. It is believed that the fetus breathes in amniotic fluid or drinks it. When this happens and the amniotic fluid enters and exists the fetus lungs then the diaphragm contracts and hiccups results. Fetal hiccups appear to be extremely normal and almost all moms will feel the babies hiccups at least once if not on a regular basis.

I use to feel my son hiccup when I was preggers. Its like light kicks, the only way to really tell the difference is that theyre repetitive for a couple of minutes. It actually got a little annoying after awhile, mostly because hiccups are annoying no matter what and I felt bad for my little guy just floating around all happy and then bang hiccups! He still gets the hiccups now and I feel bad for him

Yeah, that's true, yep yep!! When I was around 34 weeks & 5 days pregnant my fetus (now 5 year old daughter Leah) started hiccuping hecka lot! I wasn't sure whether or not this was good or bad, so I checked in with my gynecologist. She said that it was perfectly normal near the last week or so of pregnancy, and that it meant that the baby's lungs were healthy:)

My daughter hiccuped the whole last trimester. It was crazy, it almost feels like your hiccuping, except from your belly. I thought their might be something wrong she hiccuped so much. My second daughter didn't hiccup at all.

My daughter hiccupped only when I was at work or doing other strenuous activity. I think that was just hr reaction to it. Not all babies have hiccups just like not all adults, children, or already born babies do.

Good luck with baby! Only ten more weeks!!

fetal hiccups are kind of weird to explain. My son would get them when I was pregnant, but only after I ate Mexican food. Which was all the time because I craved the spicy food. They kinda do a little jerky bounce. The bigger they get the more uncomfortable it becomes. his would last for hours too, sometimes it was funny because you could see the whole outside of my stomach move. It really tripped my husband out.

I didn't feel my son hiccup until about 35 weeks. We could see it on an ultrasound around 27 weeks, but I couldn't feel it.

I feel it pretty regularly, but it didn't start until later. I could feel him moving by about 22 weeks, but I didn't feel the hiccups until closer to 32 weeks. Now he seems to get them all the time (poor guy!).

Some of my kids hiccuped in the womb and some didn't. Don't worry that yours hasn't, it doesn't mean a thing. I'm sure she'll have her share after birth!

If you haven`t felt them she could just be doing them at a time where your busy and you do not notice them, also if the doctor has not said anything about the baby's health then you really don't have to much to be worried about. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I have felt them, it really just all depends on the person because you really cant notice them all that much. Have you asked your doctor? If you really that worried about it you should ask, that's why we pay to see them... But I really don`t think you should worry your self.

I did not feel the hick ups till I was 32 weeks and now I feel them ALL the time! If you are concerned about anything though, always ask the dr.
