Sounds like a bad sci fi movie... Big Brother is watching your girlfriend !!! I have not heard about this... but it wouldn't surprise me if her father had a tracking chip implanted there... so he can catch you in the act of deflowering her !!!
Norplant is like a birth control pill that sits under your skin, slowly leaking out hormones over time-- up to 5 years, in fact. It's a set of 6 "matchsticks" made of Silastic rubber, containing the synthetic hormone progestin levonorgestrel, and is inserted by a professional in the skin of your upper arm. You can get them removed anytime up to 5 years after insertion (they must be removed then), and be aware that removal is generally more likely to cause difficulties than insertion.
No serious complications of Norplant have been found in the short term. But there are the usual troubles of weight gain, acne, breast tenderness, and ovarian cysts associated with all the hormone-based methods. Pregnancy is very unlikely with Norplant, but when it does occur, it is much more likely (15%) than average to be an ectopic pregnancy (meaning that the embryo implants somewhere outside the uterus. This is a serious condition).

Hey,
Here in Aus, they are called Implanon.
If a chip in the arm is going to stop her getting pregnant then why not have it?
Esspecially if she really doesn't want a baby at this point in time.
They really arn't that bad and you can forget about it for 3yrs before having to get another one.
So it's not like the shot where you have to go back every 3mths or like the pill you have to remember everyday!
Here you can go on registar where when the 3yrs is almost up they will call you!

It's not a computer chip! It's a hormone pellet shaped thing called Implanon. It slowly releases hormones into your system to stop pregnancy...the same hormones the pill has but you can't forget to take these ones!

It's called norplant.
Yeah, I agree with you there. There are other ways.... like patches, which don't have to be visible at all.
But honestly, I'm no authority on this.
