I'm going to give birth to my baby in 5 months. I am a bit nervous about giving birth naturally. all the movies I have seen about giving birth, women are completely naked. is it necessary? I mean having sth on (ofcourse not on legs) will be disturbing at that time?

I don't know ANYONE that has been completely naked while giving birth. The bottom half is naked, but that's a given...

It's not necessary to be naked when giving birth. If you're in a hospital, you'll be wearing a hospital gown. Of course, the doctor and nurses will have view & access "down below." If you choose to give birth at home, I'd suggest you consult with your midwife/douala about appropriate attire and what would be most comfortable.

I haven't given birth yet but i was present when my sister gave birth and she had a hospital gown on but she ended up ripping it off because she was hot and found it very irritating. So i think it is your choice. I am sure you won't have to be naked if you don't want to be.

There is no need to be naked. You'll be exposed enough as it is. No one has the right to make you get naked- even if you are giving birth

The reason those women are completely naked is because it's a MOVIE honey. You'll be wearing a hospital gown, and if you like, you can have the blanket covering you up til your knees so that only the doctor can see. Of course, your legs will have to be bent...but you do NOT have to be completely naked!!

Believe me, at the time you give birth whether or not you are naked is the last thing on your mind. You could have a circus in the room and not notice...

I don't think you have to be naked on top, just below...

Most are not completely naked, they usually wear a hospital gown, personally I think there is no more wonderful sight in the world than a naked mother giving birth naturally! And guess what, your baby will be naked as well! What is wrong with the human body naked????

it's gotta be a given to know why would be easier to wear only a gown. While your in the hospital they will be checking you like every 20 minutes to see how you've dilated and what not you might have to pee or have bm frequently and lemme tell you it's not easy doing those simplest of tasks in labor. Also your water breaking perhaps you'll have a bloody show then a baby coming out do you really want to wear something down there!?

It's a option to wear a gown or not my mother when she gave birth to me in 1992 was fully naked on the bed in the delivery room it was my dad 3 nurses and her obgyn. It's a option mainly.

I've seen it too but I think if you give birth in a regular hospital then you will be wearing a hospital gown. I think it is all your decision. Ask your doctor what they do where you are giving birth.

You'll need to be naked on the bottom obviously, but generally they advise you to be comfortable. You are welcome to wear bras, nursing gowns, a robe. Whatever. Just keep in mind that whatever you wear has a chance of getting "messed up" in the birthing process. The key is to be comfortable! Good luck!

women are completely naked at the time of giving birth is a misconception . hospitals take up as per requirement and does cooperate to the extent possible .nothing 2 b perplexed. take it easy.

When you are spread eagle ready to bring your baby into this world - the last thing you will care about is being naked. lol.

I wore a hospital gown. (very stylish) ;) I had holy socks on that day...just my luck. So, I was not completely naked. I was covered by a gown. The nurses and doctor should not over expose you for privacy reasons.

Best wishes to you!

Women aren't naked when they give birth. Just bottoms off. No more movies, ask if you don't know.

Don't worry you don't have to be completely naked. I was able to keep my t-shirt on and my warm-ups on. When the doctor went in to break my water I kept my bottoms off but I stayed in my t-shirt.

No you do not have to be naked, and most people aren't. I know I thought that same thing when I watched those movies and my child birth teacher says that it isn't really the way it is, those ladies are just whackos, I mean think about it, they are letting peopel film their crotch and allowing the eniter world to watch it forever, they have to be a little weird. Good luck

You'll be in a hospital gown, but some people aren't comfortable in those because there backless. Talk to your dr and see if they will let you bring your own gown. Some let you do that so you'll be more comfortable and able to relax more.

You dont have too be all naked.... don't have to show boobs to the doc.

You know Hollywood shows it all naked to make movies sensational, provocative and this helps them sell.

i never was completely naked while giving birth. you have your top covered. believe me when that time comes you won't even care if the local tv station comes in the room and puts your vajaja live on air. lol

you get to stay covered and the lower part is like when having a vaginal test. it's all good

I wasn't naked. I was wearing a hospital gown. Trust me, that is the last thing you will be worried about when you are in that much pain.

No. My friend is pakistani and when she gave birth she was competly covered, except of course for that spot.

Wear a dress. That's the best thing. A nice comfortable pair of pyjamas is what most do. Buy one that you think will suit you bets, nice and roomy. =)

From the waiste down, yes. normally they are because they are hot. or they have heart monitors and IV's that require you to remove your clothes. no one wants to see you naked, they just want to make sure you and your baby are safe.

When that baby is ready to come out, you're not going to be thinking about what is showing or uncovered. You had to be somewhat naked when you got pregnant, so just get over it.

Just like how you drop your pants during potty, you'll have to remove your bottoms to deliver.

I was completely covered during my births. I find the nudeness revolting and it borders on "pornography". If more women took the stand to cover themselves this world would be in a much better place.
