Can a 12 year old girl die giving birth?

I'm writing a book about a 12 year old giving birth and almost dying. Is it possible that she could die from giving birth?

Worst case, if the baby will not fit through the pelvis, the doctors do a cesarian delivery, where they slice open the stomach (sorry, the abdomen) from hip to hip to get the baby out. Then you end up with a scar that may or may not look too bad after a few years.



So yes it's possible, but not because she's 12.

I would think that a 12 year old giving birth would be very risky to the mother and child. Anyone could die giving birth so I'd say yes but why would you write such a book. Why not make the girl in your story a bit older.

I'm not trying to be mean, but maybe you should think of something else to write...I'm reading a book called Wings, and it's really great because there is romance, mythology and its interesting. I really do prefer to write something else. Your book has many ideas of what others are thinking. Don't you want something original?! I know I do. Because writing is the thing I love. If you don't think a 12 year old can't give birth, then write about something you know.
