Listen:

Whether or not abortion is murder has nothing to do with it and is frankly not helpful.

Moreover, it is not THEIR decision. This is your life, dear. You need to ask yourself: "Am I ready to have a child?" "Can I support a child?" "What are my religious/spiritual beliefs in reference to abortion?" Yes, you can "make it work", but the quality of both of your lives will be greatly diminished, especially if you have a lack of education and resources. It isn't an easy decision, but you need to make the choice that is right for you! I waited to have a child until I was ready. When I got pregnant the first time, I was in college. My husband I weren't ready to have a baby. Now that we've graduated, we have terrific jobs and are ready to support our first child. For me, it was a good decision. For many, bringing the child into the world was a great blessing. They may have struggled, but feel that it was the best decision.

What you need to do is take into consideration all of your options. Speak to someone at planned parenthood. They are an unbiased organization that provides a variety of services. Some of these services include abortion, counseling, pregnancy and prenatal care.

Good luck.

First Trimester Surgical Abortion:

This procedure can be performed 5-16 weeks from the last menstrual period.

The usual method of early abortion is suction curettage. It is performed from five to 14 weeks after your last period. The procedure takes about 10 minutes. The vagina is washed with an antiseptic. Usually, a local anesthetic is injected into or near the cervix. The opening of the cervix is gradually stretched. One after the other, a series of increasingly thick rods (dilators) are inserted into the opening of the cervix. The thickest may be the width of a ballpoint pen. After the opening is stretched, a tube is inserted into the uterus. This tube is attached to a suction machine. The uterus is emptied by gentle suction. After the suction tube has been removed, a curette (narrow metal loop) may be used to gently scrape the walls of the uterus to be sure that it has been completely emptied.

You will have the option of a local anesthetic or a local anesthetic plus intravenous sedation. Intravenous anesthesia is always given for surgical abortion procedures at 12-16 weeks.

The methods for abortion are pretty much the same at each stage of pregnancy. Its just that the more developed the fetus is, the more work it takes to break it apart in order to pull it out. It should be remembered that the later the pregnancy, the more dangerous the abortion. Also, the mother needs to check into the legality of abortion after the 16th week. I believe it was legal not very long ago, but a supreme court ruling outlawed it again, except in cases where the mother's health is in danger.

10% OF ALL ABORTIONS ARE PERFORMED AT THE GESTATIONAL AGES BELOW. THAT MEANS THAT OUT OF THE 1.3 MILLION UNBORN BABIES KILLED BY ABORTION EVERY YEAR, 128,000 ARE KILLED IN THE SECOND OR THIRD TRIMESTER. THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF ONE SEPTEMBER 11TH ATTACK PER WEEK.

14 weeks - Muscles lengthen and become organized. The mother will soon start feeling the first flutters of the baby kicking and moving inside.

15 weeks - The fetus has an adult's taste buds and may be able to savor the mother's meals.

16 weeks - Five and a half inches tall and only six ounces in weight, eyebrows, eyelashes and fine hair appear. The child can grasp with his hands, kick, or even somersault.

Eighteen week pre-born baby

The fetus is now about 5 inches long. The child blinks, grasps, and moves her mouth. Hair grows on the head and body.

20 weeks - The child can hear and recognize mother's voice. Though still small and fragile, the baby is growing rapidly and could possibly survive if born at this stage. Fingernails and fingerprints appear. Sex organs are visible. Using an ultrasound device, the doctor can tell if the child is a girl or a boy. The one on the left is a baby girl.

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E)

This method is used up to 18 weeks' gestation. Instead of the loop-shaped knife used in D&C abortions, a pair of forceps is inserted into the womb to grasp part of the fetus. The teeth of the forceps twist and tear the bones of the unborn child. This process is repeated until the fetus is totally dismembered and removed. Usually the spine must be snapped and the skull crushed in order to remove them.

Salt Poisoning (Saline Injection):

Used after 16 weeks (four months) when enough fluid has accumulated. A long needle injects a strong salt solution through the mother's abdomen into the baby's sac. The baby swallows this fluid and is poisoned by it. It also acts as a corrosive, burning off the outer layer of skin. It normally takes somewhat over an hour for the baby to die from this. Within 24 hours, labor will usually set in and the mother will give birth to a dead or dying baby. (There have been many cases of these babies being born alive. They are usually left unattended to die. However, a few have survived and later been adopted.)

Six month pre-born baby

Seen here at six months, the unborn child is covered with a fine, downy hair called lanugo. Its tender skin is protected by a waxy substance called vernix. Some of this substance may still be on the child's skin at birth at which time it will be quickly absorbed. The child practices breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid into developing lungs.

Prostaglandin Chemical Abortion:

This form of abortion uses chemicals developed by the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. which cause the uterus to contract intensely, pushing out the developing baby. The contractions are more violent than normal, natural contractions, so the unborn baby is frequently killed by them -- some have even been decapitated. Many, however, have also been born alive.

Hysterotomy or Caesarean Section:

Used mainly in the last three months of pregnancy, the womb is entered by surgery through the wall of the abdomen. The technique is similar to a Caesarean delivery, except that the umbilical cord is usually cut while the baby is still in the womb, thus cutting off his oxygen supply and causing him to suffocate. Sometimes the baby is removed alive and simply left in a corner to die of neglect or exposure.

30 weeks - For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother's blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the fetus. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as drugs or alcohol, the baby receives these as well.

32 weeks - The fetus sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.

Five steps to a partial birth abortion:

1) Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's legs with forceps.

2) The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.

3) The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head

4) The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull.

5) The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.

CONTRARY TO WHAT MOST PEOPLE BELIEVE, THIS PROCEDURE IS not ILLEGAL, AND IS BEING DONE AS WE SPEAK IN WICHITA, KANSAS BY "DR." TILLER FOR SUCH RIDICULOUS REASONS AS "DEPRESSION OF THE MOTHER". SEE http://www.dr-tiller.com

40 weeks - The baby, now approximately seven and a half pounds, is ready for life outside its mother's womb. At birth the placenta will detach from the side of the uterus and the umbilical cord will cease working as the child takes his first breaths of air. The child's breathing will trigger changes in the structure of the heart and bypass arteries which will force all blood to now travel through the lungs.

Why would you want to get an abortion? Why not carry the child to term and then give it up for adoption? That is the more humane thing to do. The child you are carrying did not ask to be conceived and besides, unless you have a major health issue in regards to carrying the child to term abortion should be the last thing you would ever want to do. Think about it this way, ten years from now you may decide to have children and if have this abortion it will haunt you for the rest of your life. You will find yourself wondering what it would have looked like, if it would have been a boy or girl, what you would have named it, what kind of personality it would have had, and etc. If you decide to have an abortion then personally I don't think you should ever bother having or try having children again.

Basically whatever method is used its killing a very small baby, isnt it? If i gave someone who wanted an abortion a very small baby and a hammer, do you think they could hammer it to a pulp rather than go through with a pregnancy?

16 weeks is quite a lot, the baby is completely formed and kicking. They will have to do something that will kill it and rip it apart so that it can all be sucked out.

You may just be asking, or it may be you in this situation, but if it IS you then i urge you to think of all your possible options rather than do something which will haunt you all your life. I know women in their 60's who have had abortions and still dream about it.

God bless!

first of all............think hard about your choices.....many couples out there would do anything for a baby but unfortunitaly they cant suceed. You have a little baby inside you and you should be very proud to have created the most special....important present you could ever be given. It changes your life but for the better...you can study and travel and work.....do anything when you have a baby if you put your mind to it. look it up on yahoo search engine for the answer to your question.......and maybe get intouch with a company called positive options. they will give you all your options. im not one of these people who say its wrong and its right because everyone has their own beliefs but please think hard and realise the facts of you baby right now inside you......they have found their first toy (cord) and now move round and feel their surroundings....so please get all the facts first and think hard!!!!
