The pill is very effective, especially when combined with condoms. Don't stay on the pill long term though, it sort of dopes your sex drive. You won't get pregnant because you won't be having sex. Unfortunately the only fool proof method of birth control is for one of you to keep your underwear on.

IUD or implants. Most BC fails because of user error. But, things like IUDs and hormone implants are always in place, so you don't have to think about them. They are 99 percent effective.

The Mirena IUD which contains hormones and you can keep it in your body for up to 5 yrs (but you can take it out sooner if you want to) or the Paraguard IUD, which is hormone free and you can keep it in your body for 10 yrs.
