I'm having a cesarean on July 19th and am wondering where they make the incision and if you feel any pain? Also, how long do your staples usually have to be left in for?

They make a small incision that is very low (you cant see it in ur bathing suit) and you dont feel anything but a little tugging when they are taking the baby out. The staples come out about 5-7 days later or some places are using ths glue that you dont have to worry about. I had my girl on a tuesday and i got my staples out Saturday before i left the hospital.

Just know that its going to a a little painful when you get up for the first few times to try and walk around but the more you move around the better you will feel. But dont over do it.

Congrats!

Well, usually the incision is made right at the bikini line (right about where you panties would hit). You won't feel any pain because they'll give you a spinal block/epidural to numb you. While you won't feel any pain - you'll probably feel some pulling and tugging from when they take the baby out. One thing I didn't realize was how big of a surgery this is. It seems like no big deal, but when you think about it, it kind of is. After the surgery though, you'll have some pain and it will be a little difficult walking around - they will probably give you hydrocodone or something similar for the pain afterward. After the surgery they'll encourage you to walk around - this gets the healing process started. I have heard varying reports on staples coming out - mine were taken out a few hours before I left the hospital. But I've heard other moms have had to go back a week later to have them removed. It depends on your doctor and probably how well the incision is healing. They can use surgical glue, but I think staples are more common. Congrats- your baby is almost here!

Usually they make the incision horizontally under your belly. You won't feel it while they are doing it, but it will be sore for a few days/weeks afterwards. As for the staples, my doctor didn't use staples to close my incision so I'm not how long they stay in for. My doctor used an adhesive glue to close my incision. It just peeled off as my incision healed. My recovery time was a lot quicker. I was up and moving and taking care of my baby all by myself (all my family had to work) 4 days after we left the hospital. I would ask your OB/GYN if they offer the glue rather than the staples. I've heard that the staples are painful when they get removed! Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

They make the incision along your bikini line and you won't feel any pain during the surgery. Afterwards you will most likely be on morphine for the first 24 hours and after that, some kind of narcotic taken orally. Normally the staples are left in for 3-4 days, but they may not use staples either. I had a c section with my first and they used surgical glue. 2 years later you wouldn't even know it was a scar. I'm having a c section on August 12th with my second baby. Good Luck!

I had a planned C-section and my incision was at the "bikini" line. I didn't feel any pain at all from the incision or the delivery. My staples were removed shortly before I was released from the hospital, probably a couple of hours before.

The incision is allll the way down there. You don't feel any pain while you are delivering your baby but after wards, all I can say is DAMN!!!!

I'm not trying to scare you but you HAVE to know. The first time you have to get up and walk is the worse. The staples come of a week later I think.

when I had my c-section 2 years ago I had no pain at all while they were doing it. in fact I asked my mother when they were going to start and she responded "They are already about to take him." No idea all I felt was a push on my stomach to get him out. They usually do the incision right above the pubic bone (about 2 to 3 inches wide) and my staples were in for 4 days, they took them out a day before I left the hospital. The recovery for me was terrible but since yours is planned I have heard it isnt as bad. Good luck!

Well your incision is going to be sore, sometimes painful, and itchy. They will probably cut you across with it unless its an emergency. I had to have an emergency c-section with my first and it was up and down. Mine starts right below my naval and ends just before my pubic hair line. My third c-section is scheduled July 21st. Just make sure you don't lift anything heavy or do anything that is strenuous. Otherwise you will have a hematoma or an infection. They will take the stables out in about a week. Make sure you are very careful a week after they are taken out. I wish you good luck and congrats. I can't wait till my lil one is here.

You wont feel any pain because you will be numb, you may feel pressure and tugging but no pain. they will make the incision just below your bikini line, not sure about the staples, Im also having a c section in October, I havent experienced it personally but know a few who have

I had a last minute c-section with my son last year.

They numb you from your rib cage down. You will feel no pain, only the pressure of them removing the baby. If your doctor was anything like mine, he will let you know that you will begin to feel pressure as they are removing the baby from your stomach.

I was fortunate enough not to have staples in my incision. They used stitches that disolved for me. And now you can barely see my scar. It just looks like a thin purple line.

Also, don't be alarmed after you recover and you begin to feel pains in your lower stomach. It is the nerve endings attempting to repair themselves from the surgery. I had my c-section last May, and I am still numb in my lower stomach, which is totally normal. ^_^

I had my c section whilst living in Turkey last summer so i was kinda prepared for it to be awful but it really wasnt hun.

you really dont feel anything so dont you worry yourself about that, it only hurts when you try to get up and move for a bit but like the last post said the more you move the better you feel you just think about your gorgeous baby your gonna be holding and then all tose aches and pain will feel like nothing compared to the love and happiness
