Do you think it's a good idea to take a college class when pregnant?

I am not working because I know no one will hire me while I am pregnant. I am 5 months now, classes start in 1 week, they run for 3 months. So I figured it would give me something to do. Has anyone done this, or is this not recommended?

i started a new job while 5 months pregnant with my 3rd child. who says you can't? so long as they understand that you'll be going on maternity leave, and what the entails, what's the big deal?
as for starting college classes, i'm 3 months pregnant and am starting in a little less than 2 weeks! more often than not, though, you need to sign up at LEAST two weeks in advance. many colleges now also offer the option to do some classes with a mixture of online and in class schooling, or you can just do online or just in class. i might end up skipping the fall semester because i'm due in November, though

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and attended classes last semester and start up again in 2 weeks for a summer class. I would def. take the class, but let your professor know just in case you need to take the final early. It will def. keep you busy and give you something to do instead of going crazy with boredom. Another plus you will feel happier because you are doing something to help yourself rather then nothing. Good Luck and Congrats.!!!

I am 6 months now, and I would say you could if you were having a normal pregnancy, but do have a back up plan and know things can go wrong! I was enrolled, and had to drop out two weeks before finals due to being put on strict bedrest ( preterm labor issues ) . Before this my pregnancy was normal, and I gave birth to a healthy now 3 year old boy. So just prepare for emergencies.

I say go for it! I was in college while pregnant and just graduated, and I am due in 4 weeks! I think that you will be fine, people do it everyday, and you're bettering yourself with more education! Good luck with the classes and congrats on the baby!

I've taken classes throughout 2 pregnancies. Make sure your instructor knows and you have a back-up plan for finals, just in case.
Best wishes!!
p.s. Don't over do it. Chem is not a good idea and if you need Phys-Ed take water aerobics, it's great while pregnant!!

Why not? You are not sick you are just having a baby. If it is a phy ed class, probably not, but sitting in a class is not too difficult and studying shouldn't be a problem + you will be done before the baby is born. Go for it!.

I did college pregnant, it was super hard and painfull at times but it can be done. Just make sure your teacher knows your pregnant, and if something comes up say you go into pre-term labor or need to be put on bed rest they be able to do something for you.

Go for it. I finished my bachelor's degree while undergoing chemotherapy. I don't see any problem with taking a class. It might be tiring if you work 40+ hours a week, though. If it's differential equations or organic chem, I'd wait. If it's English or psychology, go for it.
Just my opinion. Good luck!

If you have an overall college plan, then yes, you can take classes. If you don't, temporary services will hire pregnant women.

If you are feeling fine and are not having a troubled pregnancy, I see no reason for you not to take the classes. I say go for it. Good Luck.

Taking a class should be no problem. As long as exams will be done by week 37 you should be fine.

Just make sure that the timing works out, and you warn your professor ahead of time. You don't want to be giving birth and then fail your final because he refuses to let you re-take it...
I love your avatar, by the way.

Many women have attended college while pregnant. I had a woman with me in nursing school who was in early labor while she took her last final exam!! LOL!!
