this has been a nagging question 4 2 wks!
my b/f n i started having sex ((w/0 b/c)) about the 4th of july. i then started using the nuvaring on the 10th, this was used 4 or 5 days b/c it caused me alot of problems! i waited a few days an had a lite period 4 a few days((about 3 days, no clots just used about a pad a day)) ! i really didn't think 2 much of it, because the ring was used 4 a few days and the 15th or so is when i normaly get a/f. so at the end of that i changed 2 the patch ((ortho)) on the 25th of july. i went thru 3 wks of the patch, had all the minor pregnancy symtoms which are allso the patch "sides" i then removed the patch on the 13th an have had cramps n "morning sickness" but no period. even my breast are sore, but that is also a patch side. 1/2 of the prenancy test show + n the other show -.......would the b/c prevent a + on a test? could i be? should i wait longer 2 test? its reallllly driving me crazy, i dont want to call the doc until i completly miss my a/f...

First off, during the first month of using birth control, it is not at 99% prevention. That takes at least 2 months for the medication to get to the maximum protection. You need to wait a couple more days then take a pregnancy test again, that way you'll know for sure. Plus with the ortho patch, when you apply it, it has to be on a "fattier" part of the body, thats why they tell you to put it on the bottom of your stomach, your butt or chest. If you applied it to a "not so fatty" area, it takes longer to work through your system. Read the package insert, it explains everything INCLUDING using a back up birth control method (condoms) during the first month of starting until it reaches max potency.

Secondly, CALM DOWN! If you are pregnant, you dont want to stress out because you could potentially lose the baby. Call your md, let him know whats going on so he can note it in your chart and give you some more advice.

Good luck to you either way

Honey, call the doctor, and see your doctor, this sounds serious, you are not supposed to use birth control even if you think you are pregnant, you could have gotton pregnant, when you did not protect yourself, so now with all the things you are taking, your hormones are going crazy and if you are pregnant, then it is not good for the baby.

You should have seen the doctor before you were going to start your next period, and if you did not start, you should have taken a pregnancy test, before all the stuff you put in your body to prevent pregnancy.

Please see your doctor.

Based off of the pregnancy tests, you are more than likely pregnant. Pregnancy tests sometimes give you a false negative. But almost never give a false positive. Meaning, it is likely the + tests are correct and the - tests are wrong. Birthcontrol may cause pregnancy symptoms, but it does NOT cause pregnancy hormones, which is what a pregnancy test measures. Be safe, go to the doctor, make sure you take care of yourself.

HI, Girl I was on birth control when I found out I was pregnant! OMG i thought two weeks before my wedding. I had some of the same signs but ignored them because I was on the pill and thought no way could it happen to me but it did. So if I were you I would go see a doctor because the pt. test are not always right. Good luck!!!!

I really think you should just bite to bullet and call the dr. Tell him/her you're concerned about the side effects you are experiencing and are concerned about them.
