Is it possible to get a false negative on a pregnancy test?

I did the baby dance 2 days before ovulation day this month. Two weeks later from that day, for the last three days I’ve been feeling nauseous, dizzy, gassy, sensitivity to hot/cold, bloody nose, and forgive me if it’s tmi but before my expected period I’ve had extremely light spotting here and there and then just a milky substance coming out. Online it says all of those are pregnancy symptoms but I’ve taken two tests, one two days ago and one again this morning and both have come back negative. I used a test that is supposed to be able to be used 6 days before a missed period. My period is expected to start tomorrow. Did I still take it too early? We’re trying to conceive, so maybe I’m just getting myself worked up and hoping so much that I’m giving myself false symptoms (is that a thing, haha). I’m just going crazy because how I’m feeling is pointing to finally, but the tests keep saying otherwise.

Yes. It's common when testing too soon.

However, that also means your symptoms are not from pregnancy. By the time hCG is high enough to cause symptoms, it's well past the point where it would be detected on a home test. All of those symptoms are also caused by ANY hormonal change, including but not limited to ovulation, post ovulation, and PMS.

And finally, don't use the early detection tests. They're extremely low rated. They use a different method of testing that often misses hCG even well into the first trimester. So test again in a few days with a basic generic test.

It is a little too early for pregnancy symptoms. They are caused by the same hormone, HCG, that shows up on a urine test from the drug store. I think you have a combination of PMS and wishful thinking rather than pregnancy.

That noted, two-weeks after ovulation and before your period is due is generally too early for a drugstore test to be accurate. My advice is to wait another week and if our period doesn't come, test again or see your Ob/Gyn.

If period is not yet due then your pregnancy hormone (hcG level) wont be there yet and cant cause any symptoms, they don't normally start till around 6 weeks pregnant but wait until period is several days late before taking a test. I presume you have just started ttc and it usually takes a few months it took me almost 3 years, Good Luck

yes, just wait another week..if you are pregnant, it should show a positive within the next 2 weeks
