Hi!
I am in the 4th month of pregnancy, I am getting attached by sever Knee pains, esp in the night time I am unable to sleep, only when my husband keeps his legs on my knees I am getting sleep and only then I am getting rid of the pains, sometimes I keep 3 pillows on my knees, does the weight on knees effect the baby?

Previously I had two miscarriages, so daily morning I am getting afraid, saying " did I do mistake by keeping weight on my legs and is the baby there in my womb etc".

Thanks.

Restless leg syndrome (I had it too - it drove me nuts). You need to increase your iron and possibly calcium intake. I'd take an iron pill if you're not already doing so (and you should definitely be taking prenatal vitamins).

Baby is safe - no need to worry about weight on your knees unless it's cutting off your circulation...

Putting pressure on your knees as you sleep will not have any affect on your baby...so try not to stress about that. :)

Have you gained much weight to date with this pregnancy? The extra weight may be affecting your knees...along with a shift in your center of gravity as your abdomen expands. But that is not necessarily the cause as women w/o much weight gain often also experience such pains during pregnancy.

That being said, the safe bet is to check with your OB/GYN as soon as possible to rule out any issues or illness associated with these pains.

Why does your husband do that? I suggest he needs to sleep elsewhere for the comfort of his wife who is carrying his child. It could effect your circulation and it will cripple you later on in the pregnancy to one, not get enough sleep, and secondly, to have hurting legs.

Make sure you're getting enough iron and calcium as low levels of either can cause leg pain - just don't take your iron with your calcium as they interfere with each other's absorption.

And please tell your husband from me that he isn't doing himself or you any favors by hurting you that way. All you are doing is hurting your legs and possibly bringing arthritis early.
