im in love with this show. im 20 years old and its crazy how true the situations are. this show does NOT promote teenage sex. if you think this show promotes it, when it clearly sends the message of dealing with the consequences rather than having an abortion, then im sorry but look at real life. so many other factors promote teenage sex. im a bit upset that grace is on the Pill mostly because i love the fact that they show a christian who is choosing abstinence. they need to have grace keep her commitment. but promoting the pill is still showing responsibility. one thing i wish they would change is the image of adrianne. i love her. its not fair to portray latinas as "sluts". im latina and i'll just say that ive lost a boyfriend to a white girl who couldnt keep her hands off him. the stereotype is horrible and shes still such a smart and independent young women. i will never change my thoughts on her.
as for the boys, i wish ben would grow up and move on. goodbye ben! become a man before trying to be a dad. and ricki, good for you for taking responsibility. sometimes those types of young men will make extraordinary fathers because they become the figure they never had.
its a great show but i hope they bring in other issues. everyone on this forum who goes to highschool knows that teen pregnancy isnt the only issue. drugs and alcohol are sometimes the underlying cause. they need to portray each type of person. the secret life of the american teenager is way more complicated than just pregnancy. i left high school 4 years ago, so im sure its gotten worse.
great show, great stories, and it gave my mom and i loads to talk about while driving back to college!

It's an interesting show, and I gotta admit that I'm kind of addicted right now.. but you got to admit, the writing and acting is HORRIBLE. I mean the best actor is probably the black psychologist, everyone acts like they're acting... It doesn't feel genuine and realistic the way everyone behaves. I mean everyone's saying they love each other, and then they break up like a week later, I mean I'm in high school, and it's definitely not that bad. And since when did rumors start so fast, I mean something happens and all of a sudden everyone knows about it. Aside from the bad acting and writing.. the overall story line is interesting, and it has its moments.
And does anyone else hate Amy, she is so ungrateful. I mean Ben is such a great guy, and he has to put up with all her ****, and she doesn't even really appreciate him. I mean remember when they "broke up" and Ben was supposed to be mad at her? When did she get the right to be mad at him when he came over to APOLOGIZE? Why would he need to apologize? I mean with all the bad acting and writing, the only character that I want to punch in the face is her

I think it trashes the average american kid.
Though the stories are okay and the message is fine, the stuff they all go through is, well... overlydramatic. Like WAY TOO MUCH.
I dunno, I think the name itself gives people from foreign countries the idea that most american teenage girls get pregnant.
(I've heard of this happening. My art teacher went to teach in the UK, and the first thing the teenage kids asked her was if all american boys acted like bart simpson).

I think it's a great show that teaches teeangers what happens when you have sex at an early age. I loved the last episode and I think it was so sweet what Ricky said to baby John at the end! :]

I think it is a terrible example and promotes teens pregnancy and that half the teenage girls in there look like they are in their late teens or early 20s....way too much make up and they dress way too sexy. The show is just not realistic at all.

No,did not like it at all. I can understand that the young girl got pregnant & OK, she made a mistake, but around all of that the show is still promoting teen sex. I think its stupid & is sending the wrong message.

its a stupid show. it promotes teen pregnancy and should be taken off the air. it makes idiot girls think its "cool" to be pregnant at 15.
