Only certain antibiotics are safe to use during pregnancy. i had Sinusitis when i was about 7 months pregnant and i was given antibiotics (can't remember which ones) that were safe to use during pregnancy. My son came out fine :) The main thing is, did you TELL your doctor that you were pregnant when you were diagnosed with the UTI? As long as you tell your doctor that you are pregnant then they will make sure to prescribe something that is safe to take. It's also always safe to research your meds after you get them to be sure.

i found this site and it basically says unless you are in your third trimester of pregnancy you should be fine to take it. It said there were no side effects that were harmful to the baby while taking this drug while pregnant, but if you're still concerned, call your doctor asap and ask him/her. http://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/nitrofurantoin.html

I was put on arthromyicin(sp) when I was 4 weeks pregnant, I had a bad chest infection, while any meds can have some unforeseen side effects on mom and baby, it is generally safer to treat the infection then to leave it, leaving it increases risks for both baby and you, im sure your doc chose the safest one, at 38 weeks your chances for a healthy baby are very high, antibiotic use is more risky during the first 12 weeks, my son was born healthy at 39 weeks, he's 2 and perfectly fine, best wishes

Most antibiotics are safe to use, and if the doctor knew you were pregnant he would not have prescribed anything risky.

Nitrofurantion (Macrobid) is in pregnancy safety catagory B -- the same as tylenol and as safe as anything gets.

Take your meds and get better. Leaving an infection untreated would be far more dangerous for your baby. (If you were to end up with a kidney infection you'd probably be hospitalized on much stronger IV antibiotics.)

yes, i have taken antibiotics during pregnancy. it is important to trust your doctor because he decides risks vs. benefits to find out if you should take something. in this case, it is important for you to take the antibiotics to get rid of the infection, which really could harm your baby.

(btw, i have also had dental xrays done during pregnancy, because it was medically necessary)

If the doctor prescribed it to you knowing you're pregnant then its safe to take. They wouldn't put your baby in harms way.

it is something you ought to ask your scientific professional or any scientific professional you notice and enable her or him understand that your pregnant before they prescribe something and save in mind that any drug even over-the-counter could be undesirable for you. in basic terms drug for soreness that I considered to be ok is Tylenol and that i understand for a incontrovertible fact that the antibiotic Doxycycline and all those interior the comparable team are undesirable for you and the toddler so should not be taken in any respect in the process being pregnant (you ought to hearken to a doctor no longer a nurse approximately what's and is no longer risk-free nonetheless I had to do my very own examine to be sure the undesirable element effects to appreciate that I could desire to keep away from it no count the dose). I say to hearken to a doctor who is familiar with your pregnant reason a nurse isn't properly knowledgeable in what drugs a pregnant woman needs to keep away from or the medicine element effects on a pregnant woman and her toddler. additionally their is asserted to be antibiotics that are risk-free to take on the same time as pregnant that don't have risky element effects to you being pregnant or your toddler. As I pronounced nonetheless you ought to verify them understand your pregnant, are properly knowledgeable, and get information on the drug before they prescribe something to you or you utilize it. additionally enable the nurse who's handing it to you realize reason who is familiar with in the event that they controlled to seize the incorrect one.
