You can detect a pregnancy with a home pregnancy test about 10 days after conception (which is about 4 days before you are expecting your next period). However, many women do not get a positive home pregnancy test until their period is over a week past due. Birth control pills will not affect the accuracy of the test. The test may be more likely to pick up a pregnancy if you take it first thing in the morning.

No, previous birth control will not affect the results of a test. You can tell 28 days after conception, though if that is negative wait at least 5 days and check again to be certain! Ask your pharmacist for the appropriate pregnancy test, he/she should be able to direct you to the most accurate and sensitive that they have.

I think the EPT test or Pregnancy First test will tell you 5 days before your missed period.
