My husband and I are getting ready to paint our bedroom and nursery for the arrival of our baby, I was just wondering is it safe for me to paint using a water based paint?

I looked into it when I was pregnant and everything said that as long as it was latex or water based paint there wasn't a problem.

A water based paint or emulsion is OK, avoid oil based paints at all costs. If you're worried, wear a dust mask to keep the fumes out, and keeps the windows open to allow free flow of fresh air through the room

You can get special odor-free paint at major home improvement stores. Home Depot has one, but the colour range is limited,. I would suggest finding a dealer who does Dulux paints (made by ICI) as they do an odor free base and you can choose ANY colour from their range.

Just make sure the room is really really well ventilated and you should be fine. Also take time out every hour at least and leave the room for some fresh air.
Good Luck

Yesit's safe. I recommend wearing kitchen gloves and a mask. That's what I did and we painted our entire house!
