A mucus plug may be clear, slightly pink or blood tinged in color. It may be stringy mucus or sticky discharge. Some women may not even notice the loss of their mucus plug because there is already an increase in vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

If the mucus seems normal in color, there is no need to contact your health care provider immediately. You may just want to let them know at your next visit.

You should call your health care provider immediately if your discharge suddenly becomes bright red and the amount is more than an ounce (about two tablespoons). You could be experiencing a complication such as placenta previa or placental abruption.

No it doesn't have to be bloody. It took 2 weeks for me to fully lose my mucous blood when I was pregnant with my son. It was a yellowish green glob that came out a little at a time.

It's normal to have yellowish white mucous discharge. That isn't neccesarily your mucous plug that your losing. I called the doctor and asked about it because that is what I am losing right now also. Yellowish white mucous.

They told me the mucous plug is a yellowish/Greenish glob that will come out and get on your underwear. It doesn't just happen when you wipe or bathe.

But No, it doesn't have to be bloody and losing it doesn't mean your going to go into labor.

Just call and ask your Dr. Loosing your mucus plug doesn't indicate labor is around the corner. Which really sucks! And not all woman have a "bloody show" so it's pretty confusing. When you start feeling regular contractions then your definately ready to go, until then... it's just a waiting game. That's the boat I'm in =( and I am sooo ready!!

Usually when you are pregnant and your mucous plug breaks it is said that it would be bloody. But the thing is that when it happens before nearing 36 weeks or so i think it would produce afresh. Anyway we are not doctors, did you speak about this with your doctor. If not please do so.

Mucus plug and bloody show are two very different things.

Your mucus plug CAN be tinged with blood but not always.

Mine was not. Sounds exactly like what you are describing.. not to be confused with "bloody show". I lost mine at 28 weeks this time.

Mine wasn't. I am positive that is what it was too. It was more of a cloudy whitish color...
