Which is nicer: pleasant surprise or planned conception?

I always pictured that when the day comes that I get a positive pregnancy test it would be a pleasant surprise rather than a planned event. Not entirely sure why,

So which, in your opinion is better (presuming you're in a settled, financially stable relationship and want kids): getting a pleasant surprise (i.e. you weren't trying but ended up pregnant and are happy about it) or a planned conception (i.e. that you were ttc)?

If anyone has had experience of both I'd be especially interested in your experience.

I have been taking my pill and never missed a day so the day i found out i was pregnant i was utter distraught, most definitely not in a financial situation, i worked full time and hard just to pay my rent with little left over, i didn't plan ay children before my 30th, im now nearly 21.

I delayed taking the test thinking i have taken all my pills i cant be pregnant, however after a month no period and sore boobs, i took a test and had a positive, took 3 more and hit me i was pregnant.

Mine and my partner reaction a abortion, until my brother sat me down and told me to think through and in the end i thought i cant do that i have a living person inside me as i was quite far when i found out, im now just over 18 weeks, and im very very excited.

How i got caught? Im a care assistant and the month i conceived i had a horible bug called D&V.

THE UNPLANNED SURPRISE TURNED OUT TO BE OUR BEST PRESENT EVER!!!!

Well, with my first son it was not planned. It ended up being bittersweet because I wanted him and his dad thought that by me getting pregnant i would want to marry him. I didn't want to and we ultimately broke up before he was even born. With my second son, I had been in a relationship for five years when I became pregnant. We tried for over two years and when it finally happened our relationship fell apart. After two failed relationships and two wonderful boys, I had pretty much given up on love and the idea of having anymore children. I married my husband on November 7, 2008 and exactly one week later, I found out I was pregnant again. We were not trying, this baby was not planned but we are thrilled. I'm finally having a girl! So, after sharing my story, I'm not sure. I know that all my children are blessings, but I think this experience has been the best so far.

They are both good. We were trying for our first for 18 months and had 6 months of Clomid before I got the BFP. We were over the moon, I was starting to give up all hope. When our son was 4 months old I was feeling really ill and my dh suggested a hpt which i laughed at. However, we were going to a party that night so I thought I better be safe as I wouldn't drink if I was preg. Anyway yeah I got another bfp, we were in total shock but the baby is due in 4 weeks and we can't wait to add to our family!

Well I am 26, and wasn't planning this, my first, pregnancy.

But me and my fiance agreed that if we were going to have sex, then we were going to be prepared to have a child - if such thing happened.

And here I am now, 18 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I've just finished university and my fiance is a doctor.

The day I found out was the happiest day of both mine, and my partner's life. I regret nothing!

with my daughter we were ttc and i fell pregnant straight away. the positive was a big shock as i didnt expect to get pregnant so quickly or at all as i have pcos. surprises are nice but we were better prepared and desperately wanted a baby, so we still got a lovely surprise finding i was pregnant.
