According to the FDA Food Code, eggs for immediate consumption should be cooked to 145°F for 15 seconds to kill bacteria. Egg yolk doesn't coagulate until between 149 and 158°F, so you can still eat them over easy... Just make sure you aren't always eating JUST eggs and you should be fine.

Enjoy your eggs if you like. Don't let other people tell you what's an acceptable level of risk; judge it for yourself. If you're comfortable with a runny yolk, go for it.

It's _really_ not something I'd lose sleep over.

It is not "bad for the baby." There is a minute risk. NB that it's not as though you'd get a bad egg, not know it, and give birth to a mutant -- you'd get quite sick if you got salmonella poisoning. And there's just no such thing as a risk-free pregnancy, so don't let anybody else tsk-tsk and make you feel bad. Do your own thinking!

"The common concern on raw eggs are bacteria infection such as Salmonella, ever since it has been found inside a small number of eggs. Scientists estimate that, on average across the U.S., only 1 of every 20,000 eggs might contain the bacteria. Therefore, the likelihood that an egg might contain Salmonella is extremely small - 0.005% (five one-thousandths of one percent). Statistically, the incidence of salmonella in non-organic eggs is one in 20,000. The chance of infection works out to once every 30 years based on the consumption of a dozen eggs a week."

You need to cook your eggs completely! No runny yolks! I don't care for them that way either, but I have gest. diab. and eggs are about the only protein I can tolerate for breakfast so I have to eat hard cooked or scrambled every day!

It's only for a short period of time, so try and hold off untilt the baby is born! I know there is going to be a lot of contradicting answers to this question so make a quick phone call to your doctors office for their opinion. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Should be bad. In fact you need to have an egg at least once a day. But to be on the safe side, I would have them boiled to avoid the risk of salmonella which can be found in over easy eggs.

Yes, they must be cooked thoroughly!!! I craved runny eggs during pregnancy as well, but strayed away, just like I did lunch meat due to the risk of listeria. This is a bacteria that can cause serious problems, even miscarriage for an fetus. It is very, very rare, but I would suggest not taking the chance if at all possible.

you are at an increased risk of getting food poisoning from certain bacteria when you are pregnant which could lead to birth defects or miscarriage...eggs should not be eaten over easy when you are pregnant...give them up, it's only 9 months and it is worth it to have a healthy baby :)

I have alctually heard that you;re not supposed to eat Ceasar dressing while you're pregnant becasue it contains raw eggs. Maybe you should go to over-medium eggs for a while.

Yes, it is bad for the baby. When pregnant is is recommended that you eat your eggs, as well as all other food cooked all the way through. Look online and search for "foods to avoid during pregnancy". It will tell you explicitly not to eat undercooked eggs. There is a potential for salmonella poisoning. If you care about the health of your baby, skip the eggs if you can't eat them cooked hard. Good Luck!

I've heard that also but that was my biggest craving when I was pregnant. I need my overeasy eggs to get through the day. I always cooked the white part enough but left the yolk runny. My baby is fine and I ate them all the time!! I would say its ok.

eggs should have to be cooked all the way. I usually prefer my eggs in the morning over medium and its a bit runny. But now i have to have my eggs completely well done.

I have heard that eggs should be cooked all the way especially while you are pregnant. They can harbor some type of bacteria that can harm the baby

Eggs can potentially carry salmonella. Of course it says to cook thoroughly, but I, like you, cannot stand a hard yolk. I would limit yourself to them though.

I understand where you are coming from, it's the only way I like to eat my eggs, but it's not safe for your unborn baby. Please see website below.
