An anomaly scan is a complete scan of the foetus, which takes place about 20 weeks into a pregnancy. Its purpose is to scan the heart, brain, internal organs, check for Down Syndrome/ Spina Bifida markers, check the placental function, level of fluid around the baby, and whether the cord has two or three vessels. It is designed to look for, and identify, potential problems with the baby, hence the name anomaly. I don't know where you live but in the UK this is a routine scan offered to all pregnant women and is not an indication a doctor thinks there is a problem- it's there to detect any problems and minimise them before birth. You may also be able to find out the sex at this time.

The anatomy and anomoly scan are the same thing - it just sounds nice to say "anatomy" than "anomoly." It does *not* mean anything is wrong with your baby, it's the same scan we all get at around 20 weeks. It is sometimes referred to as the anomoly scan because that is basically what the doctors will be looking for - they will measure the baby, the organs, etc., see if there are any visible signs of Down's Syndrome or spina bifida, etc. That's why it takes so long. It's sometimes called the anatomy scan because we pregnant women are usually so desperate to know what we're having that we focus on gender.
You're fine, no worries, and congrats!

I think maybe your doctor said Anatomy Scan, which is a routine ultrasound (called a Level 2 scan) they normally do around 20 weeks gestation. It's very detailed and allows the technician to see lots of amazing stuff, measure specific bones, check the kidneys and liver etc, and often tell you the gender of your baby. My scan took about 1 hour and you get great photos!!!

anatomy scan or anomaly scan is one and the same thing. it is done around 20-24 week to see if the baby's body parts r all formed normally. thye'l measure the bone lengths and size of organs and everything. iits routine to have this soo dont wory and chill. its goign to be a LONG scan coz she has to see all the things properly and also u'll be able to find sex of baby if u want too. i loved this scan. the bbay is hyper, moving all around :)

this scan checks everything in your baby, head circumferrence, heart, kidneys, bladder, bowels, etc. it picks up abnormalities that may be present, but don't worry, it will be fine.
this scan can also identify the sex of the baby if you want to know.
good luck!
